Section 60 Order put in place in two areas of Merseyside

A Section 60 Order (Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994) will be in place in two areas in Merseyside tonight, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 following tensions in the area.

The order, which has been authorised by a senior police officer, means between 9pm this evening (Wednesday 10 April) and 1pm tomorrow (Thursday, 11 April) officers can search people for offensive weapons.

The order will cover two locations, the first Starts at the junction of Valley Road to Aintree Lane, onto Wango Lane, left at roundabout onto School Lane, left onto Melling Road, right onto Seeds Lane, Left onto Longmoor Lane, right onto Lower Lane, left onto Karonga Road, right onto Montrovia Crescent, Right onto Hawksmoor Road, left onto Copplehouse Lane.

The second location starts at Hawthorne Road, left onto Marsh Lane, left onto Rimrose Road, left onto Bankhall Street, left onto Stanley Road, right onto Celia Street, continuing onto Marsh Street and ending at Hawthorne Road.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: "This order is not about bothering people, young or old, who are going about their legitimate daily business. However, we recognise the impact this type of behaviour can have on individuals and communities, and will be targeting people involved in this type of antisocial behaviour and criminality.

"I would urge anyone in either area who has any information about criminal activity to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
