The driver of a silver Vauxhall Astra failed to stop for police on Birkenhead Road at around 3.20am and officers began a pursuit of the vehicle, which was driven at speed and on the wrong side of the road.

Patrols including the Roads Policing Unit and Dog Section assisted with the pursuit

Officers deployed a stop stick and the pursuit came to an end on Poulton Road, with the car in collision with a wall.

A 32-year-old man from Egremont was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, disqualified driving, dangerous driving and drink/drug driving.
